Assistant Director, Learning Center

WJCS is currently searching for a part-time, 28 hours per week, Assistant Director to work in our Hartsdale office. Under the general supervision of the Learning Center Director, The Assistant Director is responsible for assisting the Director by managing the daily functioning of all aspects of Center programming, supervising assigned doctoral psychology fellows and masters level externs, as well as overseeing and maintaining quality of service within the psycho-educational evaluation and autism diagnostic evaluation programs. Other responsibilities include providing direct service to clients on evaluation issues by conducting comprehensive evaluations that include intake, the administration and scoring of various assessment instruments, integrated report writing, and client feedback.

The ideal candidate must possess a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in one of the following areas: Educational, School, Clinical or other area of Psychology leading to NYS licensure in Psychology. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2-years’ experience in test administration and supervision of staff performing diagnostic evaluations. Finally, the candidate must have a driver’s license and their own vehicle with ability to drive between WJCS clinic locations as needed.

Assistant Program Director, Yonkers School Based Services

WJCS has an exciting opportunity to for a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) or clinical psychologist (Ph.D.) with experience in child and school-based mental health to lead our school-based satellite mental health clinic program in Yonkers, NY. The position is 12 months per year, full time at 35-hours per week with benefits. Under the general supervision of the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director of School-Based Services will provide administrative support for the Program Director and serves as administrator when the Program Director is not available.  Other responsibilities include providing clinical and case management services to children/youth, with or at risk of serious emotional disturbance, and their families on site at assigned worksites; providing oversight, supervision, consultation, training and leadership to clinical staff on research, testing and clinical issues, including empirically-based practices; and providing crisis intervention and leadership.

The ideal candidate must possess a LCSW or Ph.D. from an accredited university/college, with at least three years clinical experience working with seriously emotionally disturbed (SED) children/adolescents and their families, plus two years administrative and supervisory experience. Dual Diagnosis Clinician (2)- Yonkers

WJCS has two openings for a Dual Diagnosis Clinician for our family mental health clinic in Yonkers, NY. One position is full-time, 35 hours per week and one position is part-time, 21 hours per week.  Under general supervision of the Clinic Director or Clinic Supervisor, the Dual Diagnosis Clinician provides mental health and/or substance use treatment services to persons in the community having a psychiatric and substance use diagnoses and requiring services offered by a licensed mental health facility. Other responsibilities include providing treatment in various modalities, including individual, family, and group therapy for ongoing treatment cases; conducting comprehensive intake assessment and develop written treatment plan with the client (collaborative documentation) in compliance with OMH regulations; and monitoring and updating the treatment plan quarterly and working with client to fulfill the goals of the treatment plan.

The ideal candidate must possess Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor licensure couple with either the completion of a Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work or the completion of a 60 semester hour CACREP accredited mental health counseling program; be New York State licensed or be New York State license-eligible for the practice of social work in New York State (LMSW or LCSW) with concurrent CASAC certification or significant substance use treatment; or New York State licensed or be New York State license-eligible for the practice of mental health counseling (LMHC) with concurrent CASAC certification.  Must have knowledge of modern principles and techniques of social work.  Bilingual English-Spanish is a plus.

Early Childhood/Early Literacy Coordinator

WJCS is currently seeking an energetic early childhood/literacy program coordinator (fulltime 35 hours per week) to work in our award winning Parent Child Program. Under the general supervision of the program director, the selected person will be responsible for implementing and managing the nationally acclaimed Parent Child Home Program (PCHP) in Mount Vernon, including its playgroup component, Summer Fun at Hartley Park. Other responsibilities include the recruitment, training, and ongoing supervision of part-time PCHP home visitors and other staff, the recruitment and selection of families to participate in the program, curriculum development for Summer Fun at Hartley Park, and the development of early literacy support systems reflecting community and program needs and goals.              

The ideal candidate must have the ability to work with diverse populations and groups, including families, child care staff, schools, businesses, and government agencies. The selected person should also have experience developing and implementing program plans, developing early literacy/early learning curricula, providing staff training, and collecting program and participant data. Knowledge of community resources is also helpful.

An MS or MA in early childhood education, with an emphasis on child development and parental education or MSW with experience in early childhood, parent education, and community engagement strongly preferred; or BA considered with minimum of five (5)  years experience in early childhood teaching, supervision, and administration.

This position will be based in the WJCS Hartsdale Office, however candidate must have his/her own vehicle for home visits and community meetings in Westchester County. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to lift up to thirty (30) pounds; ability to walk, bend, and lift as necessary to assist in the distribution and maintenance of program supplies, bilingual English/Spanish helpful.

Home Visitor

The WJCS Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) is currently recruiting part-time staff to work in their home visiting program. Home visitors are needed to serve eligible families in White Plains, Port Chester, New Rochelle, Greenburgh, Mamaroneck, Mount Vernon and Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow. The home visitor is trained to support parents as their children’s first teachers and promote school readiness for their toddler aged children.  In the comfort of the family’s home, parent, child and home visitor participate in fun and stimulating activities using specially selected books and toys in twice weekly half hour home visits.

This meaningful and exciting work requires a minimum commitment of 9 hours per week. Home Visitors need no special educational background but must have a personality suited to home visiting and enjoy working with parents and toddler-aged children.

The PCHP runs from October 2018 to May 2019 following the school calendar. Training will be held late September for successful candidates in our WJCS Hartsdale office. Although home visitor’s hours are flexible, attendance is required at weekly staff/training meetings held on Wednesday mornings throughout the school year in Hartsdale. Home visitors receive compensation for their work.

Intensive Care Coordinator

WJCS is now hiring for a full-time, 35 hours per week, Intensive Care Coordinator. This position is part of an exciting program in Westchester County working as part of a collaboration with the local DSS office, to develop plans that would permit at-risk youth to remain safely in their homes and communities.  WJCS staff would be integral members of the DSS CSU team, providing direct care coordination to youth and their families where mental health needs are primary and providing on-going consultation to the team, from a trauma and mental health perspective.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

The Program Specialist serves the psychosocial needs of participants at a Westchester County-based community program serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) adolescents and young adults, and assists the program director in coordination and implementation of services.  Responsibilities include providing supportive counseling, outreach, case management, and advocacy services to adolescents/young adults and families; facilitating support groups and drop-in sessions for adolescents/young adults; and providing crisis intervention for  adolescent/young adult clients.

The ideal candidate has experience in working with adolescents/young adults; must have knowledge of and extreme comfort with issues affecting LGBTQ youth and their families; and be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Must be able to work Friday evenings.  Must possess a Master’s degree in social work, human services or related field.  This position requires travel throughout Westchester County therefore a reliable vehicle is needed. Program Specialist- MJB

WJCS is currently searching for part-time, 21 hours per week Program Specialist for our community-based afterschool and youth development program for girls in Yonkers, NY. The Program Specialist must be available weekday afternoons to work the minimum hours from 3:00 – 6pm, with flexibility to work alternate hours as afterschool needs require. Psychologist, DD

WJCS is looking for a part-time, 21 hours per week, Psychologist for the Developmental Disabilities Program located in Hartsdale, NY. This position includes benefits.  

The Psychologist will provide evidence-based therapeutic services to individuals ranging in age from 5 through adulthood, dually diagnosed with an intellectual disability and/or autism and co-morbid psychiatric issues. The Psychologist also provides supervision, training and oversight to psychology fellows, externs, and other trainees, oversees research projects and provides leadership on evidence-based practices.  The individual will be a member of an interdisciplinary clinical team, and will actively participate in the WJCS APA-accredited internship selection and training process.  He/she will consult with clinical staff on psychological testing, evidence-based practices, diagnostic and clinical issues, and research.

The selected candidate must have a doctorate from an APA-accredited program, have completed an APA-accredited internship, and possess a valid New York State license.  The selected individual must have a thorough understanding of psychiatric disorders, and an interest in and/or experience working with people who have developmental disabilities and/or autism. Additionally, the individual must be a strong team player, and have experience working on an interdisciplinary team in an outpatient setting, a commitment to evidence-based practices, research skills, and a comfort with computer applications.  Teaching/supervision experiences are plusses.

Social Club Facilitators

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is a large, not for profit, organization with headquarters in White Plains, NY. We are currently searching for part-time and on-call Social Club Facilitators, to work one or more evenings from 5-9 p.m. in our Social Clubs located in Mohegan Lake and Peekskill, NY. Facilitators support and encourage the club members to engage in recreational and social activities.

The ideal candidate should have a background in working with adults and have a desire to help others.  Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record and be able to operate a 15-passanger van. Evening hours required from 5pm-9pm.

Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, per diem staff will fill in for our regular staff whenever they are not able to work. Our staff supports and encourages the club members to engage in a wide range of recovery oriented activities that span the spectrum of life including but not limited to recreational and social, educational, work, spiritual, volunteerism, financial, health, basic living skills and housing. Other responsibilities include facilitating member involvement in chosen recovery oriented activities.

Social Worker, Bi-Lingual

WJCS is searching for a part-time, 21 hours per week, Social Worker for the Trager-Lemp Center Treating Trauma Promoting Resilience in the Peekskill Family Mental Health Center. Under general supervision of the Team Supervisor, the Social Worker provides services to persons in the community who are eligible for the services offered by the Agency, and who have been affected by sexual abuse or family violence as a victim, or family member of the same.  SPANISH SPEAKING STRONGLY PREFERRED.  Responsibilities include providing direct service in various therapeutic modalities, including ongoing cases, crises and intakes; responsible for all recording and statistical procedures required by the agency including case records, insurance forms and related data, monthly statistical sheets schedules, surveys, etc; and maintaining necessary patient related contacts with other agencies and resources (courts, schools, etc.) including written material, telephone contact and personal visits as necessary.  Other responsibilities include supervising other staff or students, when applicable; filing insurance claim forms and maintain other necessary contacts with insurance companies; and providing emergency and general clinical coverage for the respective office/clinic.

The ideal candidate must possess a Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work and have a license (LMSW or LCSW) to practice social work in New York State issued by the State Education Department. Must have thorough knowledge of modern principles and techniques of social work and therapeutic interventions with individuals and families affected by sexual abuse and family violence. Training and supervision in working with children with problematic sexual behaviors and other evidence-based practices is provided. Bi-lingual, English/Spanish is required; knowledge of Anasazi is helpful.  Position includes benefits.  Please send cover letter with your resume.
