WJCS’s Vocational Program offers classes for residents in documentation preparation, scanning, and file organization management. These classes are held at our Taft Center in White Plains and are offered in 10-week sessions on a rolling basis. Document retention is an increasingly vital discipline across various industries, including healthcare, legal, government, and other businesses.

Throughout this course, students acquire fundamental knowledge and skills in document retention, covering essential topics such as document preparation, organizational techniques, labeling, inventory management, and other core competencies necessary for careers in document retention and management. These versatile skills can be applied to various roles within organizations, serving as a valuable stepping stone for career advancement as experience is gained.

Our Scanning course familiarizes each student with essential computer terminology and software applications relevant to document retention. The curriculum explores diverse methods for improving, editing, and establishing a document file structure that meets the contemporary needs of numerous businesses. Students will also gain proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving hardware issues that may arise during scanning and develop a keen understanding of file maintenance and the evaluation of document-related errors.

The primary focus of this course is to impart knowledge about the advantages of utilizing computer applications and hardware for scanning and document retention. By transitioning to digital documents, businesses can achieve several benefits, including reducing paper consumption, conserving storage space, effectively organizing their files, streamlining collaboration, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
