WESTCHESTER JEWISH COMMUNITY SERVICES PRESENTS
THE WAYS WE CARE
SAFE AT
SCHOOL: MARGARET’S PLACE
No one likes to admit that domestic abuse exists, but Yankee Manager Joe Torre knows it does because he lived with it. As a result, the Joe Torre Safe-At-Home Foundation has created Margaret’s Place, safe havens in schools for young people affected by violence. Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) partners with the Torre Foundation to implement this program in Westchester schools. This month’s edition of WJCS’ “The Ways We Care,” hosted by Dale Wang, Director of Community Relations, features Megan Flynn, PhD, WJCS Director of Children’s Services and Amira Martin, Program Manager, Margaret’s Place, who discuss the concept and programming on-site in 4 schools to help young people cope with abuse in families, relationship or communities. For information about Margaret’s Place, call 761-0600 or visit www.wjcs.com.
The Ways We Care, a monthly television show produced by WJCS, provides education and information concerning the programs and services available to the community through WJCS. The program uses an interview and discussion format to deal with issues facing residents of Westchester County. To request past tapes or to receive the broadcast schedule, please contact Charlotte Cobbs at 761-0600 ext. 203.
