Senior Programs in Mt. Vernon


A range of social, educational and fitness activities are offered for senior adults from all backgrounds in the surrounding communities at Sinai Free Synagogue in Mt. Vernon. The programs are available for a nominal fee, and no one is turned away because of inability to pay. A daily hot kosher lunch is served on-site Monday through Thursday. Programming includes:

  • Card playing
  • Board games
  • Yiddish club and discussion groups
  • Chairobics (sponsored on Monday mornings by Westchester County Dept. of Senior Programs and Services)
  • Art and drawing classes
  • Exercise classes, yoga and low-impact aerobics and stretch exercises
  • Entertainment
  • Trips
  • Bible study
  • Jewish holiday celebrations

Transportation is provided for eligible participants.

Kosher home-delivered meals serve homebound individuals in Mt. Vernon, parts of Yonkers, New Rochelle, Eastchester, Pelham, Bronxville, Hartsdale and White Plains. Volunteers are always needed to deliver meals. Contact Rabbi Michael Goldman, 914-668-4350; for details.
