Holiday Celebrations at WJCS

Published Thursday, December 19, 2019

During the holiday season, joy and gratitude radiate throughout WJCS. We feel fortunate to be working for one of the largest human service organizations in Westchester and helping 20,000 Westchester residents each year overcome serious life challenges. Our clients also take the time to count their blessings.

Here are a few of the festivities we’ve enjoyed during the 2019 holiday season:

For Thanksgiving, our families at the WJCS Parent Child Center (PCC) in New Rochelle created an “I am grateful Turkey” which captures so much of the love and joy they have for their families, friends, PCC, and WJCS PCC staff. Here’s a sample of the lovely notes that participants wrote:   “I am thankful because my family is together during the holidays” “I am thankful for my family and my health” “I am thankful for life” “We are thankful for this place for the children” “Thankful for my family and for the strength and energy that you give us” and We are truly grateful for the wonderful work you do. You make everyone’s Thanksgiving better.”

Both WJCS POINT and WJCS Shelanu participants celebrated early Thanksgiving dinners at the Taft Center. At each of these dinners, staff, members, as well as parents of members shared their feelings of gratitude. As one father of a Shelanu member told the group, “I can’t do this alone. I’ve seen a lot of growth in my daughter. It’s because of this program and her friends here. Thank you for all you do.”

The WJCS Vocational program participants also celebrated an early Thanksgiving lunch at the Taft Center. They enjoyed an amazing meal, spent quality time together, and went around sharing what they were thankful for in their lives!

Members of Havorah and our Community Programs also had wonderful holiday celebrations.

And, of course, each year WJCS invites all of our staff to celebrate together at a holiday party, an event that is filled with fun and lots of good feelings. Wishing you and your families Happy Holidays and a Joyful, Peaceful, and Healthy 2020!
