WJCS offers Mental Health First Aid Trainings throughout Westchester County in order to help adults recognize the warning signs of mental health problems and/or a mental health crisis in youth or other adults. The 8-hour training course, offered by WJCS professionals, addresses the risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, including depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and substance use. Attendees are also trained in a 5-step action plan to help someone developing  a mental health concern or crisis.

As May is Mental Health Awareness Month, Michael Orth, Commissioner of Westchester County, Department of Community Mental Health, shared his thoughts about the importance of Mental Health First Aid in this video.
