WJCS Celebrates The Week of the Young Child

April 8th-12th, 2019

Published Friday, April 5, 2019

The Week of the Young Child is celebrated this year from April 8-12th and WJCS, one of the largest human service agencies in Westchester County, is hosting numerous events to draw public attention to the importance of the early childhood years in setting a firm foundation for children’s success in school and later life.

Research shows the importance of early learning and development. The Week of the Young Child is an opportunity to recommit to ensuring that each and every child experiences a positive environment for early learning at home, at child care, at school, and in the community.

Please join us at any of the scheduled storytime events taking place in libraries throughout Westchester. Just a few of the highlights: A special bilingual storytime and musical fun with musician Flor Bromley will be held at the Mount Vernon Public Library Children’s Room Monday night April 8 from 6-7:15 pm. Mayor Noam Bramson will be a special guest reader at the WJCS New Rochelle Parent Child Center Open House (in the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle) at 10 am on Thursday April 11th (followed by a Kiddy Kabaret!). A special bilingual storytime will be led by Michelle Magnotta on Friday April 12th at 11 am at the Mamaroneck Public Library followed by a library tour.
