WJCS After-School Academy Students Give Rousing Performance at MLK Event

Published Monday, February 5, 2018

Students from the WJCS After-School Academy wowed an audience of 200+ at the Westchester Reform Temple’s MLK Commemoration event recently. The choir’s musical talent has added a special touch to the event for several years. It’s just one of the many enrichment activities the Academy’s Edward Williams Elementary School students engage in to boost their educational achievement. The Academy offers homework help, a range of other academic and extra-curricular activities and fosters healthy social and emotional development. Such programs have proven to deliver myriad benefits in terms of the students’ academic success, safety as well as support for working families. The after-school program also is offered at Hamilton Elementary School and employs high school students from the community to serve as mentors for the younger set. Both programs are based in Mt. Vernon.
