County Exec. Astorino Lauds WJCS Parent-Child Program
Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino, center in photo below, recognized the WJCS Parent-Child Program with a proclamation at its 45th graduation and reunion ceremony, held June 7 at WJCS headquarters. Astorino highlighted the value of early childhood education and Bernie Kimberg, WJCS COO, left, highlighted the program’s success in bridging the academic achievement gap for Westchester preschool children from under-served communities.
Graduates, ranging from preschoolers and their parents to high-school alumni heading off to college, were on hand to demonstrate how the WJCS Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) prepared them to excel in school.
According to Program Director Patrice Cuddy, right, PCHP has helped more than 4,000 Westchester parents become their children’s first and most important teachers and has sent thousands of children off to school ready to learn and succeed over the long-term.
