Community Habilitation Worker

WJCS is currently searching for two part-time, up to 12 hours per week, Community Habilitation Worker, to work throughout Westchester County. Hours are flexible. Under the general supervision of the POINT Director, the Community Habilitation Worker  will be responsible to provide in home and community based habilitation services such as education, instruction, and direct services to individuals with MR/DD/LD in supported independent living settings. Other responsibilities include assisting with the development of the individuals’ Community Habilitation Plans; promoting individual’s chosen individualized outcomes that empower and enable individuals to achieve their stated goals and to live as optimally as possible; and assisting in the development of social skills by providing education, training, and role modeling.

The ideal candidate must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent with one year experience working in a related field. Experience in working with the DD population; good knowledge of nutrition and good financial practices; and able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Candidates must maintain reliable transportation and possess a valid NYS driver’s license and a driver’s record considered acceptable to agency insurance carrier.

Direct Support Professional(s)

Community Programs of WJCS is currently searching for both full-time (40 hours/week) and part-time (12-35 hours/week) Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to work in one of the 13 group homes located in Westchester County. Under the general supervision of the Residence Manager, the DSP will support intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals in their development of basic living and social skills with the primary goal of integrating them into the community to the best of their ability. Other responsibilities include providing assistance, services and supports that promote independence and active participation in daily living within the residence and community; administering medications as assigned; and observing and reporting individuals’ illness, health care concerns, injuries, incidents and possible individual abuse.

The ideal candidate must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have knowledge of basic residential services; able to handle sensitive issues while protecting others’ welfare; and able to participate in, pass and maintain certification of WJCS required training that includes but may not be limited to Medication Administration, SCIP, CPR/First Aid, Driving the Van and Mandatory Training as identified by OPWDD. Candidates must have a valid NYS driver’s license for at least two years. A minimum 6-12 months working with people with developmental disabilities, preferred. This position requires physical activity including but limited to lifting, moving, pulling, pushing, flexing, and bending.

Grant Accountant

WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, 35 hours per week, Grant Accountant to work at its headquarters in White Plains, NY. Under the general supervision of the Director of Revenue and Reimbursement, the Grant Accountant will prepare accounting and financial reports to government and private funders. Other responsibilities include preparing and submitting monthly and quarterly expense reports to funders; monitoring and ensuring compliance with fiscal policies and procedures including maintenance of required documentation; and preparing journal entries to the General Ledger.

The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or related field; a minimum of three years' experience in the areas of accounting, budgeting or finance; and proficient in Microsoft Excel and knowledgeable of computerized accounting systems. Must be able to work independently and be very detailed oriented and organized. Experience in nonprofit and grant reporting a plus.

Home Health Aides

WJCS is currently searching  for Home Health Aides,  Continuous recruitment.  10-40 hours a week in Westchester County.   The HHA will perform routine tasks that assist patients who are essentially home-bound with normal activities of daily living in their home and provide nutritional and environmental support services, which may include housekeeping, shopping, laundry services, meal preparation, paying bills and running errands.

The HHA will provide and/or assist with personal care functions to restore and/or maintain patients' activities of daily living, i.e., bathing, grooming, feeding, self medication, skin care, equipment including walkers, crutches, canes, and oxygen. Records and/or reports care given, patient's response and any deviations from normal reactions or routines. Knowledge of specific deviation from normal physical/mental functioning. Ability to understand and carry out technical, non-technical oral and/or written directions, maturity, reliability, good physical and emotional health, communication skills. Holds a certificate from a New York State Department of Health approved training course with 60 hours of classroom and 30 hours of clinical training or an approved equivalency. Must be free from reportable disease and habituation or addiction to depressants, stimulants, narcotics, alcohol or other substances that may alter behavior. NYS Driver's License preferred.

Home Visitors

The WJCS Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) is currently recruiting part-time visitors, who receive a stipend, for the new program year 2015-2016 (October – May).Staff Training will be held in September. This meaningful and exciting work requires a minimum commitment of nine hours per week. Although Home Visitors’ hours are flexible, attendance is required at weekly staff/training meetings held on Wednesday mornings at WJCS, 141 North Central Avenue, Hartsdale, NY 10530.

The Parent-Child Home Program serves low-income families in White Plains, Port Chester, New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, Greenburgh and Mt. Vernon. Visitors call on parents and children in their homes for a half hour, twice weekly, beginning when the child is about two years old. Each week, the Home Visitor brings a book or toy and in the comfort of the family’s home, parent, child and home visitor participate in fun and stimulating activities using the book or toy. The Home Visitor models verbal interaction – reading, conversation, and play – designed to develop language and literacy skills and school readiness skills.

Home Visitors need no special educational background, but must have a personality suited to home visiting and working with parents and toddler-aged children. Prior to beginning home visits, Home Visitors participate in 16 hours of paid training.

Personal Care Aides

WJCS is currently searching  for Personal Care Aides.  Continuous recruitment.  10-40 hours a week in White Plains, N.Y. The PCA will provide nutritional and environmental support services, which may include housekeeping, grocery shopping, laundry, meal preparation, paying bills and running errands. Provide and/or assist with personal care to maintain patients in activities of daily living (i.e., bathing, personal hygiene, toileting, self-medication, and use of durable medical equipment, ex. canes, wheelchairs, and walkers). Observe, report, and record patient affect and activities as well as care given using appropriate agency channels and records. Completion of ninth grade education or equivalent. Holds a certificate from a New York State Health Department approved training course with no less than 45 hours of classroom work or an approved equivalency. Ability to read and write English. Ability to carry out simple verbal and written directions, handle small sums of money, and ability to get along with others. Must be free from reportable disease and habituation or addiction to depressants, stimulants, narcotics, alcohol or other substances that may alter behavior.

Program Supervisor, Developmental Disabilities

WJCS  is a large, not for profit, organization with Headquarters in White Plains, NY.  We are currently searching for a full-time, 35 hours per week,  Program Supervisor for the Outpatient Services for People with Developmental Disabilities Program in our Hartsdale location.  Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Program Supervisor  is responsible for overseeing  various services and functions of the DD Outpatient Program as well as providing direct service to clients.  This includes coordinating intakes and case assignments, providing clinical supervision to staff and interns, preparation reports to funding sources, participation in community meetings, providing information and referral resources to families. 
 
Key elements for the candidate are: a MSW with a LCSW and 3 years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities who have co-occurring emotional problems; knowledge and experience in utilizing evidence based principals and techniques; administrative and supervisory experience.

Service Coordinator

 WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, 35 hours per week, Service Coordinator to work throughout the Westchester area. The Service Coordinator coordinates the continuity of programs, supports, and clinical services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities on their caseload. The Service Coordinator uses a person-centered planning process to develop, implement, and maintain the Individualized Service Plan (ISP), makes referrals, conducts meetings, prepares and distributes reports as required, and ensures that Medicaid and other government benefits are maintained for assigned individuals. Candidate must have good oral and written communication skills, ability to develop rapport with individuals served and their families, strong attention to detail and is able to multitask efficiently and effectively. Knowledge of OPWDD and Willowbrook Service Coordination required. Knowledge of Support Broker and Self-Direction, Medicaid, SSI, and SNAP a plus.

The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelors Degree in a health or human service field, or a Bachelors Degree in any field with at least 20 credits in health or human services, plus one-year experience assisting people with a developmental disability or working with a similar population. Social Club Per Diem Staff

Social Worker

WJCS is looking for a part-time, 28 hours per week, with benefits  Social Worker, in the Developmental Disabilities Program in two of our clinics - Peeksill and Hartsdale. The Social Worker will provide evidence-based therapeutic services to individuals ranging in age from five (5) through adulthood, dually diagnosed with an intellectual disability and/or autism spectrum disorder and co-morbid psychiatric issues.

The ideal candidate must possess a Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work and have or be eligible for certificate to practice social work in New York State issued by the State Education Department. Must have thorough knowledge of modern principles and techniques of social work and therapeutic interventions with individuals and families affected by sexual abuse and family violence. Bi-lingual, English/Spanish is needed. Knowledge of Anasazi is helpful. Under general supervision of the Clinic Director, the Social Worker will provide psycho-therapeutic services to children, adults, and families experiencing emotional difficulties. The Social Worker utilizes various therapeutic modalities, including ongoing cases, crisis and intakes, using evidence based practices. The Social Worker is responsible for all recording and statistical procedures required by the agency including case records, insurance forms and related data, monthly statistical sheets, schedules, surveys, etc; and maintaining necessary patient related contacts with other agencies and resources (courts, schools, etc.) including written material, telephone contact and personal meetings as necessary. Social Worker, Bi-lingual, English/Spanish

WJCS has an opening for a Bi-lingual, English/ Spanish, Social Worker to work in our satellite clinic in the DSS office in Yonkers, New York. This position is part time, 21 hours per week and is benefitted. Under supervision of the Program Coordinator, the social worker provides assessment, crisis intervention, referral and linkages, case coordination and treatment to clients referred by DSS. The social worker works in partnership with DSS workers and provides consultation and guidance to the DSS workers on recognition of mental health problems and related mental health issues.

The ideal candidate must have thorough knowledge of modern principles and techniques of social work: have interest and experience in working with multi-problem families; possess an excellent knowledge of community resources; and have the ability to work flexibly as part of a team, in both traditional and non-traditional settings. Waiver Support Specialist
