Assistant Residence Manager

WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, 40 hours per week, Assistant Residence Manager for Chai House location in White Plains, NY.  The Chai House is a Kosher Group home for women with ID/DD The Assistant Residence Manager performs a wide variety of tasks associated with assisting the Residence Manager with the responsibilities of the supervision and overall operation of a community based residence that provides residential habilitation services, community integration and supports for persons with developmental disabilities. 
The selected candidate will have the minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; two years of college, a plus, two years experience working with the developmentally disabled and one-year supervisory experience and a valid New York State Driver's License in good standing and a vehicle is need.

Care Coordinator

WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, 35 hours per week, Care Coordinator to work in the Health Home Program throughout Westchester County with our office based in Yonkers, NY. Under supervision of the Care Manager, the Care Coordinator will work with individuals in the community who have two chronic medical conditions or a mental health issue. The goal of the program is to assist these individuals in managing all of their health needs and in living a well-balanced, health life.

Responsibilities include providing care management services and health coordination to health home members; overseeing and providing access to the services an individual needs with the goal of maintaining health and avoiding unnecessary use of hospitals and emergency rooms

The ideal candidate must have knowledge of serious health and mental health conditions and management of same; knowledge of community resources and advocacy; and must be able to communicate effectively in English both written and orally. Must possess a bachelor’s degree with two (2) years of health care experience or experience working with medically underserved population. Must possess a valid NYS driver’s license and have the ability to travel to various communities and meeting sites.

Community Habilitation Worker

WJCS is currently hiring Community Habilitation/Life Skills Trainer.  The Community Habilitation/Life Skills Trainers. will be responsible to provide in home and community based habilitation services to individuals with MR/DD/LD in supported independent living. This includes education, instruction, direct services, and supports that promote individual’s chosen, individualized outcomes;  that empower and enable individuals to achieve their stated goals and to live as optimally as possible.  The Community Habilitation Worker will also be responsible to co-lead evening and weekend activities with groups of individuals. The selected person will have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent and must have prior experience working in the human service field or social service field working with young adults with developmental disabilities (DD).

Must be able to work flexible hours, nights and weekends. 
Must maintain reliable transportation and possess a valid NYS driver’s license and a driver’s record considered acceptable to agency insurance carrier.  Must participate in mandatory agency training assigned by Manager or Program Director.

Direct Support Professional(s)

WJCS is currently searching for Direct Support Professional(s). Continuous  recruitment.   All shifts needed. Under the direction and supervision of the Residence Manager, the direct support professional will provide assistance, services and supports that promote independence and active participation in daily living within the residence and community. The residential counselor will assist the clients   to achieve their individual habitation goals and objectives. It is also necessary to provide health care and ensures the safety of the clients at all times.  

The direct support professional may administer medications as assigned. The direct support professional will serve as a role model for clients, modeling dignity and respect, drive or accompany clients to appointments, recreational, religious, day program/employment activities; and visits with others. Provide oversight and assistance to clients who are hospitalized. Complete and maintain all required documentation, records, and reports. Maintain the cleanliness and attractiveness of the residence. The selected applicant will be: a High School graduate or equivalent, have a minimum of 12 months working with people with developmental disabilities, valid driver's license, knowledge of household management, meal planning, meal preparation, shopping and knowledge of people with mental retardation, developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and health care conditions. The ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, capable  to physically assist consumers, flexible schedule and ability to work in a variety of locations and on different shifts/time periods. It is preferred that this staff person has the ability to pass and maintain certification of WJCS required training that includes, but may not be limited to Medication Administration, SCIP, CPR/First Aid, vehicle certification and Mandatory Training identified by OPWDD.

Group Leaders

WJCS is currently searching for four part-time, 15 hours per week, Group Leaders to work in an Elementary School in Mt. Vernon, NY. The hours are Monday-Friday, 3-6pm. Under the general supervision of the Site Coordinator, the Group Leader will be responsible for the overall daily supervision/functioning of planned program activities as well as the well being of approximately 25 participants of the after school program. Other responsibilities include assisting participants with homework; assisting in the development of appropriate social skills; and completing required daily paperwork, including, but not limited to “summary of the day.”

The ideal candidate must have experience in working with Elementary School-aged children; experience and affinity for working in under-resourced communities; and demonstrated abilities to multitask and be flexible. Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent but some college preferred, and a minimum of one year experience working with children. This position requires that a background check and an updated physical.

Home Health Aides

WJCS is currently searching  for Home Health Aides,  Continuous recruitment.  10-40 hours a week in Westchester County.   The HHA will perform routine tasks that assist patients who are essentially home-bound with normal activities of daily living in their home and provide nutritional and environmental support services, which may include housekeeping, shopping, laundry services, meal preparation, paying bills and running errands.

The HHA will provide and/or assist with personal care functions to restore and/or maintain patients' activities of daily living, i.e., bathing, grooming, feeding, self medication, skin care, equipment including walkers, crutches, canes, and oxygen. Records and/or reports care given, patient's response and any deviations from normal reactions or routines. Knowledge of specific deviation from normal physical/mental functioning. Ability to understand and carry out technical, non-technical oral and/or written directions, maturity, reliability, good physical and emotional health, communication skills. Holds a certificate from a New York State Department of Health approved training course with 60 hours of classroom and 30 hours of clinical training or an approved equivalency. Must be free from reportable disease and habituation or addiction to depressants, stimulants, narcotics, alcohol or other substances that may alter behavior. NYS Driver's License preferred.

Home Visitors

The WJCS Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) is currently recruiting part-time visitors, who receive a stipend, for the new program year 2014-2015 (October – May).Staff Training will be held in September. This meaningful and exciting work requires a minimum commitment of nine hours per week. Although Home Visitors’ hours are flexible, attendance is required at weekly staff/training meetings held on Wednesday mornings at WJCS, 141 North Central Avenue, Hartsdale, NY 10530.

The Parent-Child Home Program serves low-income families in White Plains, Port Chester, New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, Greenburgh and Mt. Vernon. Visitors call on parents and children in their homes for a half hour, twice weekly, beginning when the child is about two years old. Each week, the Home Visitor brings a book or toy and in the comfort of the family’s home, parent, child and home visitor participate in fun and stimulating activities using the book or toy. The Home Visitor models verbal interaction – reading, conversation, and play – designed to develop language and literacy skills and school readiness skills.

Home Visitors need no special educational background, but must have a personality suited to home visiting and working with parents and toddler-aged children. Prior to beginning home visits, Home Visitors participate in 16 hours of paid training.

Learning Specialist

WJCS is currently searching for an energetic, Learning Specialists  to perform part-time tutorial work with children who are experiencing difficulties with high school level math.  This position can be successfully filled by an individual who has attained or is in the process of working toward completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education, math, reading, psychology or other liberal arts. Hourly salary is commensurate with education and experience. The applicant should have excellent communication skills in order to provide an exceptional learning experience for the student.  Tutors must be available to work after school hours and on Saturdays.   Bi-lingual, English-Spanish, is a plus but ability to work with students on Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Precalculus skills is mandatory.

Personal Care Aides

WJCS is currently searching  for Personal Care Aides.  Continuous recruitment.  10-40 hours a week in White Plains, N.Y. The PCA will provide nutritional and environmental support services, which may include housekeeping, grocery shopping, laundry, meal preparation, paying bills and running errands. Program Coordinator

WJCS has an exciting opportunity to work as a Program Coordinator in the Margaret's Place Program, (a collaboration with the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation). This position is full-time, 35 hours per week, in a host school setting in Yonkers. The Program Coordinator will provide violence prevention and intervention services for students that attend the school. This position is responsible for providing program curriculum, group counseling, individual counseling, peer leadership development and school-community psycho-education services to students and families at the middle school. The focus is on domestic and interpersonal violence, but also addresses violence prevention, healthy relationships and communication among other related issues.

The ideal candidate must have proven ability to work with youth, adults and families; clinical experience in the field trauma treatment and prevention; and thorough knowledge of modern principles and techniques of social work and youth development. Must possess a LMSW (or acquire licensure in first year) or related graduate professional degree and licensure. Computer literate and able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Registered Nurse

 WJCS is searching for a part-time, 21 hours per week, Registered Nurse. Under general supervision from the Director of Nursing Services, the Registered Nurse will provide nursing services for individuals residing in the homes operated by Community Programs of WJCS.

 The Registered Nurse will promote optimal health and safety through assessment, planning and intervention as well as collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and other health professionals. Other responsibilities include coordinating mandated evaluations, such as physicals, dental, eye/vision and audio evaluations and provide follow up for all medical recommendations; collaborating with the IDT to promote the strengths of each individual, as well as reports on current health status at quarterly, semi annual and annual reviews; and provides training to staff on all medical protocols and ensures that all staff have a good working knowledge of the trained protocol and , ensures documentation is present for all trainings.

 The ideal candidate must possess a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State; valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various locations; and have a CPR Certification. Respite Specialist

WJCS is currently searching for a part-time, 6 hour per week Respite Specialist to work throughout Westchester County.  The Respite Specialist for Project Time Out (PTO) is involved in the management of respite services for the elderly and developmentally disabled populations referred to PTO.  Other responsibilities include providing outreach to senior centers and community programs for families needing specialized caregivers, completing intakes/assessments in the home for families caring for an adult 60 years and older and for children who have a developmental disability. Also, assisting in the recruiting and training of respite workers to care for the above populations.

WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, 35 hours per week Social Worker to work in Yonkers, NY.  Under general supervision of the Clinic Director, the Social Worker will provide psycho-therapeutic services to individuals experiencing emotional difficulties in the community.  Other responsibilities include, providing clinical services to children, adults, and families utilizing various therapeutic modalities, including ongoing cases, crisis and intakes, using evidence based practices; responsible for all recording and statistical procedures required by the agency including case records, insurance forms and related data, monthly statistical sheets, schedules, surveys, etc; and maintaining necessary patient related contacts with other agencies and resources (courts, schools, etc.) including written material, telephone contact and personal visits as necessary.

The ideal candidate must have thorough knowledge of modern principles and techniques of social work.  Must be able to work with children, adolescents, adults or families.  Must be able to conduct interviews to obtain social and medical information necessary to perform diagnostic evaluation.  Able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.  Bi-lingual, English-Spanish is preferred.  Knowledge or Anazasi or other Electronic Medical Record System.  MSW from an accredited school of social work and possession of or eligible for certificate to practice social work in New York State issued by the State Education Department. WJCS is currently searching for a 6 months temp, 35 hours per week, Support Technician to work in the headquarters location in White Plains and at agency sites throughout Westchester County. Under the general supervision of the Director, the Information Systems Support Technician is responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance and support of Information Systems and voice and data communication. Other responsibilities include troubleshooting and resolving equipment and communications malfunctions; performing routine operations including periodic report generation and system backup; and assisting in problem resolution of infrastructure issues with the Network Administrator and/or the IS department.

The ideal candidate must have experience with all computer hardware, printers and basic network equipment; must be proficient in Microsoft Windows XP/7 and Microsoft Office Suite 2003/2007/2010; and possess strong analytical and problem solving skills. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or equivalent Associate degree and have relevant computer training or A+ certification and at least 1 year of computer hardware and software maintenance/support experience.
