Assistant Residence Manager

WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, 40 hours per week, Assistant Residence Manager for Chai House location in White Plains, NY.  The Chai House is a Kosher Group home for women with ID/DD The Assistant Residence Manager performs a wide variety of tasks associated with assisting the Residence Manager with the responsibilities of the supervision and overall operation of a community based residence that provides residential habilitation services, community integration and supports for persons with developmental disabilities. 
The selected candidate will have the minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; two years of college, a plus, two years experience working with the developmentally disabled and one-year supervisory experience and a valid New York State Driver's License in good standing and a vehicle is need.

Community Habilitation Worker

WJCS is currently hiring Community Habilitation/Life Skills Trainer.  The Community Habilitation/Life Skills Trainers. will be responsible to provide in home and community based habilitation services to individuals with MR/DD/LD in supported independent living. This includes education, instruction, direct services, and supports that promote individual’s chosen, individualized outcomes;  that empower and enable individuals to achieve their stated goals and to live as optimally as possible.  The Community Habilitation Worker will also be responsible to co-lead evening and weekend activities with groups of individuals. The selected person will have a minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent and must have prior experience working in the human service field or social service field working with young adults with developmental disabilities (DD).

Must be able to work flexible hours, nights and weekends. 
Must maintain reliable transportation and possess a valid NYS driver’s license and a driver’s record considered acceptable to agency insurance carrier.  Must participate in mandatory agency training assigned by Manager or Program Director.

Coordinator, YPA

WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, 35 hours per week, Coordinator for the Young People Achieve program based in White Plains High School and Sleepy Hollow High School.  Under general supervision of the YPA Program Director, the Coordinator will provide culturally sensitive and clinically sound leadership to the YPA program.  The program’s components include case management, supportive counseling, group psycho-education in English and Spanish, professional staff development and other intervention work with pregnant and parenting teens as well as prevention work with youth around healthy decision making.  Responsibilities include network with and outreach to community based organizations and creating and delivering training and workshops for parents and families.

The ideal candidate must have good knowledge of Westchester County community, in particular new immigrant Latino community; good networking skills; good training and public speaking skills.  Possess a Masters degree in Human Services or related field.  Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to relate well with supervisors, program officials, employees and others.  Must be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, both orally and in writing.

Home Health Aides

WJCS is currently searching  for Home Health Aides,  Continuous recruitment.  10-40 hours a week in White Plains, NY. The HHA will erform routine tasks that assist patients who are essentially homebound with normal activities of daily living in their home and provide nutritional and environmental support services, which may include housekeeping, shopping, laundry services, meal preparation, paying bills and running errands. The HHA will provide and/or assist with personal care functions to restore and/or maintain patients' activities of daily living, i.e., bathing, grooming, feeding, self medication, skin care, equipment including walkers, crutches, canes, and oxygen. Records and/or reports care given, patient's response and any deviations from normal reactions or routines. Knowledge of specific deviation from normal physical/mental functioning. Ability to understand and carry out technical, non-technical oral and/or written directions, maturity, reliability, good physical and emotional health, communication skills. Holds a certificate from a New York State Department of Health approved training course with 60 hours of classroom and 30 hours of clinical training or an approved equivalency. Must be free from reportable disease and habituation or addiction to depressants, stimulants, narcotics, alcohol or other substances that may alter behavior. NYS Driver's License preferred.

Learning Specialist

WJCS is currently searching for an energetic, Learning Specialists  to perform part-time tutorial work with children who are experiencing difficulties with high school level math.  This position can be successfully filled by an individual who has attained or is in the process of working toward completion of a Bachelor's degree or higher in education, special education, math, reading, psychology or other liberal arts. Hourly salary is commensurate with education and experience. The applicant should have excellent communication skills in order to provide an exceptional learning experience for the student.  Tutors must be available to work after school hours and on Saturdays.   Bi-lingual, English-Spanish, is a plus but ability to work with students on Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Precalculus skills is mandatory.

Personal Care Aides

WJCS is currently searching  for Personal Care Aides.  Continuous recruitment.  10-40 hours a week in White Plains, N.Y. The PCA will provide nutritional and environmental support services, which may include housekeeping, grocery shopping, laundry, meal preparation, paying bills and running errands. Provide and/or assist with personal care to maintain patients in activities of daily living (i.e., bathing, personal hygiene, toileting, self-medication, and use of durable medical equipment, ex. canes, wheelchairs, and walkers). Observe, report, and record patient affect and activities as well as care given using appropriate agency channels and records. Completion of ninth grade education or equivalent. Holds a certificate from a New York State Health Department approved training course with no less than 45 hours of classroom work or an approved equivalency. Ability to read and write English. Ability to carry out simple verbal and written directions, handle small sums of money, and ability to get along with others. Psychologist

 

WJCS is looking for a part-time, 21-28 hours per week Psychologist to in the DD Program in Hartsdale.  The Staff Psychologist will provide evidence-based therapeutic services to individuals ranging in age from 5 through adulthood, dually diagnosed with an intellectual disability and/or autism spectrum disorder and co-morbid psychiatric issues.  The Staff Psychologist also provides supervision, training and oversight to psychology interns, externs, and other trainees, oversees research projects and provides leadership on evidence-based practices.  The individual will be a member of an interdisciplinary clinical team, and will actively participate in the APA-accredited internship selection and training process.  He/she will consult with clinical staff on psychological testing, evidence-based practices, diagnostic and clinical issues, and research.   

 

The selected candidate must have a doctorate from an APA-accredited program in clinical, counseling, or school psychology, have completed an APA-accredited internship, and possess a valid New YorkState license. (S)he must have a thorough understanding of psychiatric disorders, and an interest in and some experience with developmental disabilities and/or autism spectrum disorders.  Additionally, the individual must be a strong team player, and have experience working on an interdisciplinary team in an outpatient setting, a commitment to evidence-based practices, research skills, and a comfort with computer applications.  Bi-lingual English-Spanish and/or teaching/supervision experience are plusses.

Residential Counselor(s)

WJCS is currently searching for Residential Counselor(s). Continuous  recruitment.   All shifts needed. Under the direction and supervision of the Residence Manager, the residential counselor will provide assistance, services and supports that promote independence and active participation in daily living within the residence and community. The residential counselor will assist the clients   to achieve their individual habilitation goals and objectives. It is also necessary to provide health care and ensures the safety of the clients at all times.   The residential counselor may administer medications as assigned. The residential counselor will serve as a role model for clients, modeling dignity and respect, drive or accompany clients to appointments, recreational, religious, day program/employment activities; and visits with others. Provide oversight and assistance to clients who are hospitalized. Complete and maintain all required documentation, records, and reports. Maintain the cleanliness and attractiveness of the residence. The selected applicant will be: a High School graduate or equivalent, have a minimum of 12 months working with people with developmental disabilities, valid driver's license, knowledge of household management, meal planning, meal preparation, shopping and knowledge of people with mental retardation, developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and health care conditions. The ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, capable  to physically assist consumers, flexible schedule and ability to work in a variety of locations and on different shifts/time periods. It is preferred that this staff person has the ability to pass and maintain certification of WJCS required training that includes, but may not be limited to Medication Administration, SCIP, CPR/First Aid, vehicle certification and Mandatory Training identified by OPWDD.

Respite Specialist

WJCS is currently searching for a part-time, 6 hour per week Respite Specialist to work throughout Westchester County.  The Respite Specialist for Project Time Out (PTO) is involved in the management of respite services for the elderly and developmentally disabled populations referred to PTO.  Other responsibilities include providing outreach to senior centers and community programs for families needing specialized caregivers, completing intakes/assessments in the home for families caring for an adult 60 years and older and for children who have a developmental disability. Also, assisting in the recruiting and training of respite workers to care for the above populations.

The ideal candidate must have good public speaking skills.  Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.  Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.  Proven ability to work with the elderly and the knowledge of developmental disabilities.  Must possess a bachelor’s degree in social work, special education, gerontology, or a related degree.  Additional training is offered through the WJCS Education Institute.

Supervising Social Worker

A Social Work Clinic Supervisor is needed for 21 to 28 hours per week in Mt. Vernon, NY.  The Social Work Clinic Supervisor works as a member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team in a warm community-oriented outpatient clinic.  The Social Work Clinic Supervisor has administrative responsibility for the assignment of intake evaluations and for tracking patients through the assessment process.  The Clinic Supervisor may supervise clinic staff as assigned by the Clinic Director.  The Social Work Clinic Supervisor provides mental health care in the form of evidence-based psychotherapy (assessment, diagnosis and treatment through individual, couples, family and group therapy), crisis intervention, training/outreach, and consultation.  The Social Work Clinic Supervisor also provides clinical supervision, consultation, and leadership to clinical staff on research and clinical issues, including empirically based practices. 

The selected candidate must have a Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work and must posses a New York State LCSW; plus  two years supervisory experience.enefits are available for employees who work at least 21 hours per week.  Excellent ongoing professional training is also provided through the WJCS Educational Institute.
