Accounts Payable Specialist

WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, 35 hours per week, Accounts Payable Specialist to work in our headquarters office in White Plains, NY. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Controller, the Accounts Payable Specialist performs tasks involving the recording of expenses and cash disbursements following prescribed practices and procedures. Other responsibilities include coding, inputting and allocating invoices, purchase orders, expense reports and recurring expenditures to a computerized accounting system; obtaining proper approvals and backing up documentation; and performing administrative tasks related to financial record keeping.

The ideal candidate must have knowledge of A/P procedures and controls; must be able to use spreadsheet programs like Microsoft Excel and Word; and must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships and to relate well with supervisors, program officials, employees and others. Associates degree in Accounting or Business Administration and three years of experience required, preferable in the non-for-profit sector. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Assistant Residence Manager

WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, 40 hours per week, Assistant Residence Manager to work in a group home in New Rochelle, NY. Under general supervision of the Residence Manager, the Assistant Residence Manager performs a variety of tasks associated with assisting the Residence Manager with the responsibilities of the supervision and overall operation of a community based residence that provides residential rehabilitation services and supports for persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Other responsibilities include performing the duties and essential functions of the position of Direct Support Professional; providing Person Centered Supports as out lined in the NYS DSP Code of Ethics; and promoting and practicing justice, fairness, and equity for the people you support and the community as a whole and will affirm the human rights, civil rights and responsibilities of the people you support.

Behavioral Support Specialist

WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, Behavioral Support Specialist. 35 hours per week in lower Westchester County. The Behavior Support Specialist reports to the Coordinator of Habilitation and Behavioral Services, to ensure quality person centered supports for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential settings.  The Behavior Support Specialist conducts functional behavior assessments, participates in Personal Outcome Measure interviews, assists in the development of person centered behavior plans and monitoring methods, trains Direct Support Professionals in the residences to ensure accurate implementation and documentation of plans, conducts reliability checks, analyzes data and reports on the effectiveness of the support plans.

Applicants should have experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and in Applied Behavioral Analysis;  should poses a Master Degree in Applied Analysis, BCBA or BCBA eligible preferred, a BCBaA, or  BS in psychology, with at least five (5) years’ experience will be considered.

A vehicle and driver’s license are required.

Care Manager (Academic and Career Support Program)

WJCS is currently searching for a part-time, 14 hours per week, Care Manager to work in the Academic and Career Support Program (ACS) at the Mary J. Blige Center for Women and Girls, in Yonkers, NY. The Care Manager will work in conjunction with the Program Director and teachers to provide case management and referral services to the ACS Program participants. The Care Manager will identify and provide resources to help the ACS participants reach their academic goals, meet their immediate challenges, and reduce or eliminate barriers to their success. Other responsibilities include meeting regularly with participants to monitor their progress, establishing relationships with community organizations, and maintaining appropriate documentation such as action plans and reports.

The selected individual will have a minimum of one to two years experience in human services or case management. The selected person must have a strong sense of care in working with individuals at risk and in crisis or individuals with a number of barriers. Ability to interact with culturally and socioeconomically diverse individuals is a plus. We are seeking a strong communicator that has great motivational skills. The selected person will have at least an Associate’s Degree in a Human Services or related field or a High School Diploma with up to two (2) years experience in case management activities.

Community Habilitation Worker

WJCS is currently searching for several Community Habilitation Trainer to work up part-time, to 20 hours per week at $14 per hour. The Community Habilitation Trainer will work with individuals in their apartments in White Plains. Under the general supervision of the POINT Director, the Community Habilitation Trainer will be responsible to provide in home and community based habilitation services such as education, instruction, and direct services to individuals with MR/DD/LD in supported independent living settings. Other responsibilities include assisting with the development of the individuals’ Community Habilitation Plans; promoting individual’s chosen individualized outcomes that empower and enable individuals to achieve their stated goals and to live as optimally as possible; and assisting in the development of social skills by providing education, training, and role modeling.

Direct Support Professional(s)

Community Programs of WJCS is currently searching for both full-time (40 hours/week) and part-time (12-35 hours/week) Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to work in one of the 13 group homes located in Westchester County. Under the general supervision of the Residence Manager, the DSP will support intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals in their development of basic living and social skills with the primary goal of integrating them into the community to the best of their ability. Other responsibilities include providing assistance, services and supports that promote independence and active participation in daily living within the residence and community; administering medications as assigned; and observing and reporting individuals’ illness, health care concerns, injuries, incidents and possible individual abuse.

The ideal candidate must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must have knowledge of basic residential services; able to handle sensitive issues while protecting others’ welfare; and able to participate in, pass and maintain certification of WJCS required training that includes but may not be limited to Medication Administration, SCIP, CPR/First Aid, Driving the Van and Mandatory Training as identified by OPWDD. Candidates must have a valid NYS driver’s license for at least two years. A minimum 6-12 months working with people with developmental disabilities, preferred. This position requires physical activity including but limited to lifting, moving, pulling, pushing, flexing, and bending.

WJCS is currently searching  for Home Health Aides,  Continuous recruitment.  10-40 hours a week in Westchester County.   Live-in positions available.  The HHA will perform routine tasks that assist patients who are essentially home-bound with normal activities of daily living in their home and provide nutritional and environmental support services, which may include housekeeping, shopping, laundry services, meal preparation, paying bills and running errands.

The HHA will provide and/or assist with personal care functions to restore and/or maintain patients' activities of daily living, i.e., bathing, grooming, feeding, self medication, skin care, equipment including walkers, crutches, canes, and oxygen. Records and/or reports care given, patient's response and any deviations from normal reactions or routines. Knowledge of specific deviation from normal physical/mental functioning. Ability to understand and carry out technical, non-technical oral and/or written directions, maturity, reliability, good physical and emotional health, communication skills. Holds a certificate from a New York State Department of Health approved training course with 60 hours of classroom and 30 hours of clinical training or an approved equivalency. Home Visitors

The WJCS Parent-Child Home Program (PCHP) is currently recruiting part-time visitors, who receive a stipend, for the new program year 2016-2017 (October – May). Staff Training will be held in September. This meaningful and exciting work requires a minimum commitment of nine hours per week. Although Home Visitors’ hours are flexible, attendance is required at weekly staff/training meetings held on Wednesday mornings at WJCS, 141 North Central Avenue, Hartsdale, NY 10530.

The Parent-Child Home Program serves low-income families in White Plains, Port Chester, New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, Greenburgh and Mt. Vernon. Visitors call on parents and children in their homes for a half hour, twice weekly, beginning when the child is about two years old. Each week, the Home Visitor brings a book or toy and in the comfort of the family’s home, parent, child and home visitor participate in fun and stimulating activities using the book or toy. The Home Visitor models verbal interaction – reading, conversation, and play – designed to develop language and literacy skills and school readiness skills.

Home Visitors need no special educational background, but must have a personality suited to home visiting and working with parents and toddler-aged children. Prior to beginning home visits, Home Visitors participate in 16 hours of paid training.

Intensive Care Coordinator

WJCS is now hiring for a full-time, 35 hours per week, Intensive Care Coordinator. This position is part of an exciting program in Westchester County working as part of a collaboration with the local DSS office, to develop plans that would permit at risk youth to remain safely in their homes and communities.  WJCS staff would be integral members of the team, providing direct care coordination to youth and their families where mental health needs are primary and providing on-going consultation to the team, from a trauma and mental health perspective.

Maintenance Specialist

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) has an opening for a full-time, 40 hours per week, Maintenance Specialist to work in our Community Programs Division in White Plains, NY. Program Specialist

Under the general supervision of the Program Director, the Program Specialist will provide program services to young women from the community who participate in the program. Other responsibilities include planning and implementing curriculum based workshops intended to increase positive self-esteem and self-worth for girls and young adult women; conducting outreach to parents, families and community organizations regarding program services; and ensuring a continuum of services and youth development programming for after school youth.

Registered Nurse

WJCS is searching for a  Registered Nurses. This  is full-time, 36  hours per week Under general supervision from the Director of Nursing Services, the Registered Nurse will provide nursing services for individuals residing in the homes operated by Community Programs of WJCS.

The Registered Nurse will promote optimal health and safety through assessment, planning and intervention as well as collaboration with the interdisciplinary team and other health professionals. Other responsibilities include coordinating mandated evaluations, such as physicals, dental, eye/vision and audio evaluations and provide follow up for all medical recommendations; collaborating with the IDT to promote the strengths of each individual, as well as reports on current health status at quarterly, semi annual and annual reviews; and provides training to staff on all medical protocols and ensures that all staff have a good working knowledge of the trained protocol and , ensures documentation is present for all trainings.

The ideal candidate must possess a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State; valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various locations; have a CPR Certification; and have experience working with the ID/DD population. Must possess good interpersonal and organizational skills and be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Service Coordinator

WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, 35 hours per week, Service Coordinator to work throughout the Westchester area. The Service Coordinator uses a person-centered planning process to develop, implement, and maintain the Individualized Service Plan (ISP), makes referrals, conducts meetings, prepares and distributes reports as required, and ensures that Medicaid and other government benefits are maintained for assigned individuals. Social Club Per Diem Staff

WJCS is currently seeking per diem staff to work in our Social Clubs located in Mohegan Lake, NY. Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, per diem staff will fill in for our regular staff whenever they are not able to work. Our staff supports and encourages the club members to engage in a wide range of recovery oriented activities that span the spectrum of life including but not limited to recreational and social, educational, work, spiritual, volunteerism, financial, health, basic living skills and housing. Other responsibilities include facilitating member involvement in chosen recovery oriented activities.

The ideal candidate should have a background in working with adults and have a desire to help others achieve their personal goals. Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record and be able to operate a 15-passanger van.

Social Worker

WJCS is currently searching for a full-time, Social Worker to work thirty-five hours per week in a satellite clinic based program in an school in Yonkers, NY.  The position is 12 months per year, full time at 35-hours per week with benefits. The candidate is responsible for providing direct clinical services to children and families in a busy school setting, as well as all related clinical documentation.  Capacity to develop collaborative relationships with school and community partners is essential.  An MSW and license to practice in NY are required.  Proficiency in Spanish helpful. Excellent continued professional training and clinical supervision provided through the Agency Educational Institute. Bi-lingual, English-Spanish is a plus.

Social Worker

WJCS has an opening for a Social Worker to work in our satellite clinic in the DSS office in Yonkers, New York. This position is full-time, 35 hours per week. Under supervision of the Program Coordinator, the social worker provides assessment, crisis intervention, referral and linkages, case coordination and treatment to clients referred by DSS. The social worker works in partnership with DSS workers and provides consultation and guidance to the DSS workers on recognition of mental health problems and related mental health issues.

The ideal candidate must have thorough knowledge of modern principles and techniques of social work; have interest and experience in working with multi-problem families; possess an excellent knowledge of community resources; and have the ability to work flexibly as part of a team, in both traditional and non-traditional settings.

An MSW degree from an accredited school of social work and possession of or eligible for certificate to practice social work in New York State issued by the State Education Department. On-going clinical supervision and training is available in the WJCS Educational Institute. Bi-lingual, English/Spanish is required.

Staff Psychiatrist

WJCS, a large human service agency in Westchester County, is seeking a dynamic individual to assume the role of a psychiatrist.   The psychiatrists will privde direct care and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team working in an expanding variety of community settings.  Minimum requirement of at least two (2) years post training clinical and administrative experience, including familiarity with electronic records and Board Certification in Psychiatry.  Experience in management of child psychiatry and/or Board Certification in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry a plus, but not required.
