Educational Institute Courses

The WJCS EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE is the training branch of the agency, offering courses, workshops, seminars and conferences to enhance the skills of WJCS staff, professionals from other organizations and the community at-large. Extensive in-service training for both professional and support staff offers the opportunity to develop and increase skill levels. 

The Educational Institute is an approved provider for continuing education units (CEUs) for social workers.  Youth Mental Health First Aid has been approved by NYSED and will be scheduled soon. Two other courses,  Treating Clients with Co-occurring Mental Health and Substance Use Conditions and Initial Assessment and Risk Evaluation for Children are being submitted to NYSED for approval. An annual Edythe Kurz Clinical Conference highlights issues for professionals in the human service field.
The Dr. Samuel Kahn Memorial Lecture is open to the community and focuses on family matters with an emphasis on parenting and mental health.

WJCS also provides clinical internships and field placements for students pursuing doctoral degrees in psychology, externships in psychology and internships for undergraduate and graduate students of social work.
