WJCS Sponsors ‘Cool’ Summer Fun at Hartley Park

Published Friday, July 27, 2012

Despite the nearly 100-degree heat, more than 100 youngsters and their parents, grandparents and childcare providers are enjoying "Learn in Joy Together” each Tuesday morning at Hartley Park in Mt. Vernon.  The seven-week event is run by the Parent Child Home Program, which is sponsored by Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS). This year’s theme is Exploring Language, Literacy & Art with books by Eric Carle.  Everyone is encouraged to visit our special Eric Carle library corner and participate in a related art activity such as creating tissue paper masterpieces.  The children also enjoy the water table, obstacle course, hopscotch, bowling and crawling tunnels. Story time is hosted each week by the Mount Vernon Library.  Adding to the  excitement are special events including visits from the Mt. Vernon Fire Department, Westchester County’s Fit Mobile, WIC, Greenburgh Nature Center and Musical Fun with Addie.  The remaining dates are July 31 and August 7 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 NoonFor additional information contact Ingrid Bentil at 949-7699 X 307.
