County Exec Visits WJCS Sites in Yonkers

Published Thursday, June 17, 2010

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino and Director of Community Services Diane Balistreri recently visited several sites in Yonkers operated by Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS).  At the WJCS Family Mental Health Clinic they heard about programs including the Treatment Center for Trauma & Abuse and services for people with developmental disabilities. At the WJCS Mary J. Blige Center for Women the group met participants in a GED class and at WJCS Building Better Beginnings, a County- funded program known as Early Step Forward, they learned about the program’s goals. They visited WJCS KICS (Kids in Community Schools) at Martin Luther King Elementary, where Principal Leslie Grant highlighted the importance of WJCS to the school, a sentiment echoed by three parents who spoke from the heart about how KICS has positively impacted their lives and that of their children.
