hite Plains resident Elidia Aranda displays the Vision Board she created at a recent conference sponsored by Westchester Jewish Community Services. On March 3, some 75 young women gathered in White Plains for Voices Together: Building Connections, a leadership conference for girls in middle and high school. The keynote address, “Run the World!” was given by Dr. Felicia Watson, an educator and youth development advocate who speaks nationally and internationally on issues of youth development and empowerment. Attendees took part in workshops about building a personal vision, self-advocacy, positive communication, friendships and healthy sexuality. Said one participant, “I was inspired by the passion of everyone at the conference. I learned to build a vision to achieve my dreams and goals. I especially learned that my attitude determines my altitude.” The conference was made possible with support from The Solomon, The Kestenbaum and The Elizabeth G. Butler Angel Foundations.
