WJCS has an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to work at both our large, busy, vibrant Yonkers Family Mental Health Clinic serving families and persons of all ages, races and ethnicities, and backgrounds through our general clinic and specialized treatment services and at WJCS' Center Lane, the only LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Queer) youth and community education center in Westchester County.
This split position would entail 21 hours at Center Lane and 14 hours at the Yonkers Clinic.
The Center Lane Social Worker serves the psychosocial needs of participants at a Westchester County-based community program serving lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) adolescents and young adults, and assists the program director in coordination and implementation of services. Responsibilities include providing supportive counseling, outreach, case management, and advocacy services to adolescents/young adults and families; facilitating support groups and drop-in sessions for adolescents/young adults; and providing crisis intervention for adolescent/young adult clients. Working primarily at the Yonkers main site and possibly White Plains, NY – bi-weekly.
The ideal Center Lane candidate has experience in working with adolescents/young adults; must have knowledge of and extreme comfort with issues affecting LGBTQ youth and their families; and be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Must be able to work Friday evenings. Must possess a Master’s degree in social work, human services or related field. This position requires travel throughout Westchester County therefore a reliable vehicle is needed. Knowledge of MS Office is needed.
Under general supervision of the Clinic Director, the Yonkers Family Mental Health clinician provides comprehensive mental health treatment services to persons in the community having a psychiatric and substance use diagnoses with the support of a multidisciplinary team, strong supervision, and ample training. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with evidenced based treatments, knowledge of modern principles of social work, prior experience with children, community mental health, and/or co-occurring disorders. Bilingual English-Spanish is a plus. New York State licensure or New York State license-eligibility (LMFT, LMSW, LMHC, or LCSW) is required.
