Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is a large, not for profit, organization with headquarters in White Plains, NY. We are currently seeking a part time Peer Specialist to work 14 hours per week in Yonkers, NY. Under general supervision of the Program Director, the Peer Specialist will provide peer support services to participants at a community center serving gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning adolescents. Other responsibilities include co-facilitating, planning and implementing groups; developing strong, positive relationships with participants to promote personal growth; and maintaining client records and data.
The selected person should have at least a high school diploma and be comfortable working with LGBTQ+ adolescents. Bi-lingual, English/Spanish is a plus. Evening hours are expected in this position and weekend work could be required on an occasional basis. Prior direct work with LGBTQ+ youth is a plus.
