WJCS is currently seeking a full time Director of Community Engagement and Government Relations to work in White Plains, NY. Under the general supervision of the Chief Development Officer, the Director will serve as the principal liaison to government officials and community partners; oversee a complete volunteer service program as well as build and maintain long-term relationships with a wide range of community stakeholders.

In this position the selected candidate will manage the volunteer department which includes supervising Volunteer Coordinator, VIP program and WJCS Volunteer Corps Coordinator; take lead in coordinating volunteers and services with department heads; work with executive staff to identify legislative and government relations priorities for WJCS; plan and implement legislators’ site visits to WJCS sites throughout the county; attend community meetings and serve as WJCS liaison for advocacy groups; monitor legislation and policy activities, update and advise leadership and staff about relevant policy proposals and actions; plan and support new program initiatives related to Community Engagement.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; 3 to 5 years’ experience in external relations, volunteer management, social services, local government or related fields preferred; experience with, or knowledge of, the legislative process at the local, state, and/or federal levels. The selected person must be computer literate; proficient in Internet research, use of databases (eTapestry and Mailchimp experience preferred), Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
