Linkages and Youth Success
Creating positive alternatives for youth involved in the probation system
Funded through a grant from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services and obtained by the Westchester County Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH), LINKAGES New Rochelle Juvenile Justice Program is a coordinated mental health/juvenile justice model program that works in collaboration with the Department of Probation. New Rochelle, Mount Vernon and Pelham youth and their families are served.
The program is based in the New Rochelle Family Courthouse and aims to reduce institutional placement, improve support to families and provide early assessment and treatment of mental health and substance abuse problems. A Mount Vernon satellite office serves the Mount Vernon community. Spanish speaking staff is available in this program.
YOUTH SUCCESS is a pre-employment skill building program for at-risk youth involved in WJCS' LINKAGES and FAMILY MATTERS programs. Funding has been provided by an Invest-In-Kids / COPS Grant, Westchester County Youth Bureau. Youth learn valuable job skills through group activities and are placed in apprenticeship opportunities where they receive on-site job training. The mission of the program is to teach youth job skills that will eventually help them obtain and maintain employment.
