UJA Federation of NY’s Connect to Care at Westchester Jewish Community Services is a multi-faceted approach to helping those in the Westchester Jewish community that are affected by the economic crisis.  The staff at Connect to Care will help you maximize your chances for success in your career search.  At the Center there are workstations with computer/internet access, copier and fax machine, and a lounge available for informal networking. 

 Professionals from WJCS, FEGS and NYLAG will be on site to provide legal assistance, financial, emotional and spiritual counseling as well as individual career counseling sessions to clients, all free of charge.

Workshops will be offered on pertinent topics, as well as networking sessions and discussion groups.

There are more than 14 ways to find a job. We will look at a variety of techniques that can help you become a more effective job seeker. The discussion will focus on the most effective way of finding the 85% of jobs that are never advertised.

Preparing yourself for the new career economy. Alternatives to the traditional job market: self-employment.

Presenter: Barry Kleiman is an Owner/Business & Self-Employment Coach with The Entrepreneur's Source. Barry helps guide clients towards self-sufficiency by exploring alternate career options in a safe environment. He is a graduate of the Entrepreneur's Source Academy, which is an intense and rigorous training curriculum on coaching, franchising and self employment options. Barry attends more than five hours of training per week to refine and improve his skills so that he can better serve his clients. Entrepreneurship workshop presenter at JPMorgan/Case Career Services; guest speaker on Entrepreneurship at Execunet.

1:30 am – 3:00 pm        Ramp Up Your Resume for Today’s Market

Our current economic business environment requires a different marketing tool (resume) than in the past. Make sure that your resume is ready to impress and make you memorable. Once enrolled, we will send you a small resume pre-work package to complete prior to this workshop. The workshop format will be interactive and you will be teamed with another client/attendee and together, you will Ramp Up Your Resume!  There will be instructor input and assistance throughout the workshop. This workshop is led by our Connect to Care Career Counselor (FEGS), Sandra Leshaw. This will be an opportunity to take your resume to the next level! **This workshop is a prerequisite to a one-on-one session with our Career Counselor.

Bring your lunch and take time off of your job search to schmooze with others.  While everyone’s situation is unique, there is much that we have in common.   Meet people in similar circumstance and make a connection. This group will be facilitated by Jill Schreibman the Connect to Care at WJCS Social Worker.

Via Route 120 traveling West on 120 from Port Chester, Rye, Harrison etc., make a right turn at the entrance to Westchester County Airport. Immediately get in your left lane. At the stop sign make a left [New King Street]. We are the second building on your right hand side [#10]. Take the elevator to the 1st floor. Connect to Care is Suite 107.

 

PARKING

There is limited parking at 10 New King Street, however free overflow parking is available at the corner lot across the street.
