The WJCS Autism Family Center is offering a Therapeutic Social Skills Group for four- and five-year-old youngsters on the autism spectrum.  Starting June 29, the group will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:15 - 5:30 PM for five weeks at the Center at 845 North Broadway in White Plains.

The professionally led therapeutic group will focus on reciprocal play, turn taking, joint attention and following directions. Learning will take place through cooperative play, circle-time games and playtime with staff and parents. The program will feature a concurrently run Parent Group led by a staff member. Parents will learn how to apply at home and in the community the skills their children are learning. They also will have opportunities to practice skills with their children at the end of each session. In addition, The Parent Group is an opportunity to meet other parents, gain mutual support, learn about resources and share some “down” time.
