GSA: Building the Alliance
Center Lane’s longstanding commitment to serving the local community is epitomized by its collaboration with the Westchester County school systems. For the past 9 years, the center has hosted and sponsored Westchester County’s GSA Network Group, as well as special events and programs, such as Healing the Hurt Conference and Breaking the Silence.
The GSA Network is composed of school-based student organizations that work to end anti-gay bias and harassment among students, teachers, and administrators within the school systems. These organizations, commonly referred to as Gay-Straight Alliances, provide education and training about GLBTQ issues. Activities include hosting panel discussions with guest speakers to address the school’s current learning and social climate as it relates to the GLBTQ community, and work to ensure that each school is accepting and supportive of its GLBTQ students and staff.
Center Lane congratulates and welcomes back all its returning members of the GSA Network.
