Youth Leadership Program & Speakers Bureau:
Center Lane Youth Leadership Council/Speakers’ Bureau
WHO? A group of LGBTQ youth leaders who strive to make their schools and community safer for LGBTQ people
WHAT? The Center Lane Youth Leadership Council/Speakers’ Bureau provides workshops and trainings in schools and community settings on LGBT issues; they mentor students who want to start GSA’s (Gay Straight Alliance) in their schools; they provide valuable consultation to the staff of Center Lane about program development; they advocate for LGBTQ rights, and they are role models for other LGBTQ (and straight!) youth.
Youth Leaders complete an intensive leadership training course where they learn public speaking skills, workshop facilitation, advocacy skills, and team building tactics.
Youth Leaders receive community service credit and letters of recommendation for college for their contributions to the council.
WHEN? Youth Leaders meet 2X a month at Center Lane for training.
