Center Lane College Group:

Mission & Purpose:

  1. Act as mentoring agent for Center Lane High School Student to promote higher education and the importance of community service and activism.
  2. Serve as an activist and social network for queer college students and organizations.

Started in the Fall of 2003, the Center Lane College Group offers a variety of mentoring services, such as tutoring and panel discussions on GLBTQ topics. Over 95% of the youth that participate in Center Lane programs are still in high school, and most are active in their GSA organization. The Center Lane College Group provides education, information, and opportunities for youth to develop leadership and team building skills.

The College Group also serves as a networking opportunity for college students to meet, socialize, and share experiences. In the past, participants have gone on to collaborate with one another on special events and programs, such as Center Lane's Breaking the Silence event.

The College Group is open to all college students who are interested in making a positive impact on their campuses, communities, and in the lives of GLBTQ youth.

For more information, please email Ellen Vaz or Sara Braun.

"The College Group was a great way for me to meet students from other colleges and compare notes on student organizations, campus life, and youth activism."
