Strengthening Lives. Shaping Futures.

Our mission:

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is a comprehensive human services organization that helps people of all ages and backgrounds overcome emotional, social, educational, vocational, disability, and spiritual challenges so they can lead lives with strength, resilience, and confidence.

Our Values:

• WJCS is driven by the spirit of “tikkun olam”–repairing the world. By providing care and support, we work to help Westchester residents of all ages and backgrounds who are struggling to heal, develop skills, build resilience, and lead their best lives.

• Our first responsibility is to our clients—the mothers, fathers, children, individuals with disabilities, LGBTQ+ youth, seniors, and all who need our assistance. Our services are offered regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, national origin, and physical or cognitive ability. We are fully committed to providing state-of-the-art, evidence-based, trauma-informed care with compassion.

• We are dedicated to ensuring dignity and respect for all employees in an inclusive and safe environment that values diversity, experience, and merit. We are committed to racial justice and equal opportunity, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, class, ability, sexual orientation, and gender identity differences—for employment, professional development, and advancement for qualified individuals.

• We believe in a transparent culture where employees are welcome to make suggestions and raise concerns.

• As we support the health and well-being of the Westchester community, we care for and support each other.

• We are dedicated to working with government, community and faith organizations, schools, and businesses to strengthen the entire Westchester community. We are committed to responding to emerging needs and developing innovative programs in response to those needs.

WJCS is an Equal Opportunity Employer and committed to fighting racism. Through our staff-led Undoing Racism Alliance, WJCS has hosted companywide Undoing Racism Lunch ‘n’ Learn Workshops for over 20 years. Speaker presentations and discussion forums have been focused on raising awareness about racism and its effects and joining in communitywide efforts to fight racism.

WJCS receives funding from Westchester County, New York State, the U.S. Federal government, the WJCS Board of Directors, foundations, corporations, and private donors. Through private funding and support from UJA-Federation, our Jewish programs division works with synagogues, day and nursery schools, JCC’s, assisted living facilities, and other Jewish institutions to meet the diverse needs of Westchester’s Jewish community. Services and programs to Holocaust Survivors are provided by funding from the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany.
